£37,382 - £44,607 per annum. Potential to progress to £50,186 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.

Summary:
The Modern Languages Teaching Centre is a department within the School of Languages and Cultures that offers a wide variety of language modules ranging from beginners’ to advanced levels in Arabic, French, German, Greek, Italian, Latin, Portuguese and Spanish. Spanish is offered at all levels from beginners to finalists returning from their year abroad; Portuguese is offered at beginners’ level only subject to demand.
The School of Languages and Cultures seeks a Spanish and Portuguese Coordinator to join the team in the Modern Languages Teaching Centre upon the retirement of the current Coordinator. The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of the Spanish language programme. You will update, supervise and deliver courses ranging from beginners’ to near-native levels, contribute to administrative duties in relation to these courses and to Spanish provision as a whole, and oversee the work of a team of teachers.
You will have near-native proficiency in Spanish with knowledge of current affairs and cultural life in Spanish-speaking countries and regions and good track record in teaching Spanish in higher education. You will have a degree involving Spanish (or equivalent experience), a teaching qualification and a strong commitment to the delivery of a high-quality language-learning experience.
This full-time post has a start date of 6 January 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. We anticipate that interviews will be held in the last week of September 2013.
